Luke has more than 13 years of experience advising clients in a wide spectrum of industries, with a heavy emphasis on assisting real estate businesses and their owners with tax planning, consulting and compliance. His real estate experience includes consulting related to New Market Tax Credits, Historic/Rehabilitation Tax Credits, Opportunity Zones, tax incentives and like-kind exchanges.

Luke has a Bachelor’s Degree for Administration in Accounting from McKendree University, as well as a Bachelor of Administration in Economics and Finance degree from McKendree University. Luke is a licensed Certified Public Accountant by the State of Missouri.

Luke serves as a senior advisor to Gateway on financial forecasting, complex entity structures for real estate projects, and tax implications for opportunity zones.

Brian Ross

Brian Ross — MBA

Financial Advisor

Brian has over 20 years of experience in the development of major infrastructure projects, and is co-founder of InfaShares, a leading crowdfunding platformed specializing in private-public infrastructure projects nationwide.

Mr. Ross is a graduate of CalPoly with a BS in Construction Management, a graduate of Stanford University with a MSE in Construction Engineering, and has his MBA from Hass School of Business at UC Berkeley.

Mr. Ross has a class A Contractors License, is LEED AP certified and possesses FINRA Series 65 (Investment Advisor) and MSRB Series 50 Municipal Financial Advisor certificates.

Mr. Ross is a combat veteran serving as a platoon leader in Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star.

His unique combination of experience in construction, engineering, and finance brings a highly valued talent, perspective, and analysis to Gateway’s advisory board.

Jay is a Top 25 legal Advisor and has been with Gateway since its inception.

Jay was one of the early proponents of Opportunity Zones, and has been at the leading edge of the legislation and related tax incentives since they were first enacted in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in late 2017. He has spoken at over 25 regional and national conferences on the structuring of Qualified Opportunity Funds and Qualified Opportunity Zone businesses, and has helped form more than 50 successful Qualified Opportunity Funds thus far, ranging in size from small private transactions to transactions in the $200 million to $500 million range.
